Mercedes Smith is a flutist who recently won a big competition (The National Flute Association Young Artist Competition) and then went on to win the principal gig with the Pacific Symphony the following week. I asked her some questions for an article for the Houston Flute Club, and I think her answers are worthy of anyone on the audition path perusing.
