I must make a comment about this article. About a year ago I saw a picture of a major orchestra posted on their facebook page. It was a closeup, and you could see the musicians faces. 90%+ looked terribly unhappy, and I couldn't believe the orchestra would post such a shot. Anyway, I've always know that I made the right decision about not doing music for a living. I love it too much.
If I did it for a living, I probably would hate it like most Americans hate their jobs.

As an airline pilot I've played in two quality professional orchestras so I understand what you're saying and agree with you.
