I've got the Karajan rehearsal film (now on DVD) from the 60s
and apparently there was also one made with Carlos Kleiber.

Has anyone seen it?

Is this video on that rehearsal film?

additional thoughts about Kleiber (jr.):

"rhythmic forward momentum"

I have a DVD of Kurt Masur/Brahms cycle: good orchestra and he is good to look at: vital energy and appropriate emotional "face".

So why is the music "flat"?? (I don't mean pitch)

i.e. Kleiber "bends" the time and with an energetic forward-momentum pulse, like conducting a river.

I think Brahms is dangerous in that way, because
it can become too "bar-liney" and heavy.

Kleiber is such a joy/revelation on that in that
he makes Brahms so alive and percolating and full of life...(and takes away the barlines)

I would ask anyone reading here for special anecdotes about your Brahms performances which really "scintillated" in your career history ??
