What are the most common pro C horns in use in major orchestras? If you've had experience with the horn, please list some qualities or
positives/negatives.

Thanks.

For orchestral players, it isn't as clear cut as it used to be. Considering major orchestras, their is quite a discrepency.

Chicago, Cleveland, Philly and the NY Phil play Bachs. Boston, Baltimore and Minnesota play Monette. Atlanta (at least did), Seattle and LA Phil (at least did) play Yamaha.

Not sure about the National Symphony in DC or the SF Orchestra, or what other major orchestras there are that you're considering. But, there is certainly not a "de facto" standard as in years past.

Can anyone fill in the gaps or question marks above?

I believe that the National Symphony is playing Bach's. Steve Hendrickson, the principal trumpet, tried out one of the lightweight Monette 2000LT's but switched back to his Bach and I'm pretty sure the rest of the section is on Bach's.

I will be seeing/hearing the National Symphony here in Gainesville, Florida in February. I will be hooking up with Dave Flowers over that weekend and will check what they are using these days. Dave probably is still using his old Bach held together with wires and stuff. I can't imagine him playing anything else, but who knows?

could be mistaken, but I was led to believe that entire SF section is playing the (newer) conn v-1C trumpet (they were a test market with the original prototypes...again as I was told)
