Does anyone know if la or Vancouver hired anyone (for the assistant principal and principal cello jobs, respectively)? I think la has a few trials going on and Vancouver had an audition over the summer.

Since no one had replied to you, I did email several people in both orchestras. If I hear anything I will post it. I looked at both websites, and the positions appear to still be unfilled.

I heard that Tao Ni from the Cincinnati Symphony won the Associate Principal Cello position in Los Angeles

I can confirm that Tao was offered the job. As far as I know, they haven't officially announced it yet, so he may not have signed a contract at this point. I'm assuming he's coming though.
