Does anyone know who won the Berlin Philharmonic piccolo audition? I have a flute friend who is trying to find out this information.

Did they find the information on the website of the Orchestra? It's been on their forever...Audition is by invitation only I believe. I know that from before the piccolo player left to a Spanish Orchestra- there was articles in the paper about it. If you want more info, I can find out why the piccolo player left etc.

I believe flutistjosh is talking about Virginie Reibel, who did not get tenured after two(?) years of probation. She then got a job in Valencia, Spain. The process with her probation was mentioned as an example in the documentary "A trip to Asia".

Berlin uses a lot of time to audition and try out different people. Currently, they don't list any piccolo player, which I'm quite sure they would do very quickly when a final decision is made.
