A year later and what's the outcome this 2nd time around the block?

I believe that the finals are happening today and there are two candidates.

I had forgotten about this audition. Who are the finalists? or can you say? Best of luck to both.

I assume I can say since I'm in Europe and heard this on the street (more or less). Students (maybe recent students) from Juilliard and Manhattan both named Kyle and both of whom made it through the tape round.

It appears that Kyle Zerna has won the audition.

So the two gentlemen from atlanta and chicago did not advance this time??

Can we be sure that they took it?

I believe supanova is referring to Charles Settle (Atlanta Symphony) and Vadim Karpinos (Chicago Symphony), who were the two lone candidates to play a semi final round in the last audition they held for this position.

Charles was auto advanced to the semis, and Vadim did not take it this time around.

I believe that with Don Koss' recent retirement in Chicago, Vadim Karpinos has been the defacto CSO timpanist this Spring. So, I'm not sure why he would take an external audition at this point.
